The Wokingham Bikeathon urgently needs 2 or 3 volunteers to help as Marshalls on the route on Sunday 26th June from 9.00 – 12.00  (at the junction on the A4) or from 10.30 – 13.30  at the Twyford Road entrance back to Cantley Park.  The Bikeathon is a family-friendly cycling event from which all of the profits are donated to charities. If the volunteers are connected to a charity or wish to nominate one, we will give a donation to that charity after the event, as a thank you.

We are happy to let you know the Bikeathon is back and will be better than ever. A lot of people discovered cycling during the pandemic, especially during lock down and we are very keen to encourage people to continue to cycle. It not only contributes to physical health and wellbeing but the fresh air and exercise have been shown to improve mental health too.

So to make the Bikeathon more accessible to everyone we have reduced the entry price. If you register on line the price for adults is £ 15 and £ 3  for 12y-17 year olds. Children under 12 are free.

We are aiming to make the Bikeathon as environmentally sustainable as possible so as well as removing single use plastic water bottles, this year we are introducing a fully bio degradable, plastic free medal that includes a sachet of wild flowers to plant in your garden or along the verges of Wokingham’s country lanes. We are very grateful to Wokingham My Journey for sponsoring the medals and we are pleased to be the first event locally to introduce plastic free medals.

This year we have developed a new, intermediate route so that riders who have already completed the short route but may not feel ready to ride the long route can challenge themselves with a new 25 mile route, This route follows both the short and long route so riders can access the drinks stop and will be familiar with parts of the route.

All the routes will be Strava segments for those who like to track their progress!

The Wokingham Bikeathon is really back this year (not just virtually!)  Come and enjoy a family-friendly bike ride through the beautiful Berkshire countryside, whilst raising money for good causes at the same time.
